UWC Director of Humanitarian Initiatives discusses humanitarian aid with the Deputy Minister

The Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine expressed gratitude and interest in the UWC humanitarian initiatives and declared support for this important project that helps to save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.

 UWC Director of Humanitarian Initiatives discusses humanitarian aid with the Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine
  On 10 June 2014 Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) Director of Humanitarian Initiatives Dr. Ulana Suprun, UWC Vice President and President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Paul Grod, and President of the World Congress of Ukrainian Youth Organizations Miroslav Hochak met with Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Admiral Ihor Kabanenko and Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Directorate of the Ministry of Defence Colonel Viktor Miroshnychenko.

During the meeting, Dr. Ulana Suprun briefed the government officials on the training of Ukrainian soldiers in emergency medical procedures to save lives in armed combat and supplying Ukraine's armed forces with individual first aid kits. Also discussed was the importance of medical and humanitarian aid for the Ukrainian army, including the means of promoting this issue with governments in leading world countries.

The Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine expressed gratitude and interest in the UWC humanitarian initiatives and declared support for this important project that helps to save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.

"We will continue to provide Ukraine with the necessary humanitarian aid made possible with the close cooperation of Ukrainian non-governmental organizations, primarily from the United States and Canada," noted Dr. Suprun.    The UWC  is the international coordinating body for Ukrainian communities in the diaspora representing the  interests of over 20 million Ukrainians. The UWC has member organizations in 33 countries and ties with  Ukrainians in 14 additional countries. Founded in 1967, the  UWC was recognized in 2003 by the  United  Nations Economic and Social Council as  a  non - governmental organization (NGO) with special consultative status.
