Ukrainian World Congress greets Ukrainian nation on its victorious path to realizing a democratic, Ukrainian and European country
The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) sincerely greets the Ukrainian nation on its victorious path to realizing a democratic, Ukrainian and European country, testimony to the nation's strength, courage and unity.
The UWC also welcomes the constructive work of Ukraine's Parliament and expresses its full support for the significant resolutions adopted on 21 and 22 February 2014, including the return to the 2004 Constitution of Ukraine, calling a Presidential election for 25 May 2014 and releasing former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
The UWC calls upon the international community to recognize the legitimacy of the adopted resolutions.
The UWC and the Ukrainian diaspora will continue to support the Ukrainian people and the processes of Ukraine's democratization and Euro-integration.
"The UWC pays tribute to the victims of EuroMaidans who made the ultimate sacrifice for Ukraine's freedom and celebrates all of the heroes of EuroMaidans throughout Ukraine who, with their dedication and belief in a brighter future, accelerated the democratization of Ukraine and united the Ukrainian people in a vision of a country truly democratic, Ukrainian and European," stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
The UWC is the international coordinating body for Ukrainian communities in the diaspora representing the interests of over 20 million Ukrainians. The UWC has member organizations in 33 countries and ties with Ukrainians in 14 additional countries. Founded in 1967, the UWC was recognized in 2003 by the United Nations Economic and Social Council as a non‑governmental organization (NGO) with special consultative status.
